Moving “Stuck” Items in a Content Folder
When trying to reorder items using the drag and drop feature within a Content Folder, you may encounter a Known Issue where it does not save your changes. When items are stuck in the wrong order, there is a quick workaround that you can perform yourself. Blackboard is aware of this Known Issue, but there is currently no scheduled fix.
Moving the Items
Navigate to the Content Folder in which the items reside, making sure you note the exact name of the folder and the pathway to get to it. Click on the chevron next to the first item in the folder and select Move from the menu.
Click Browse for the Destination Folder, and a window will pop up displaying the full folder structure in your course. Click on the content folder in which the items currently reside.
Once you click on the folder it will close the pop up and fill in the destination folder. Click Submit.
Repeat the Process
You will need to repeat this process with every item in the folder. You’ll note that as you repeat the process, each item is moved to the bottom of the page. Once you have completed this task, you will then be able to drag and drop the items into the desired order, and it should save. If you continue to have issues with reordering items in your course after following these steps, please contact us for help.
The Known Issue
Blackboard is already aware that this is an issue; what causes it is a bug that removes the position code attached to each item. Completing this process basically resets the position code so that it then is able to save the changes to the item order.
